Ramadan Wonders- Health Wonders in Ramadan (5): Benefits of salah

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The physical movements of Salah

A scientific research showed that the physical activities of Salah involve moving all muscles and joints of the human body, and that these activities are considered the best type of sport for young people, old people,

women and men. Furthermore, no sports expert can ever recommend one exercise that is appropriate for males and females of all ages and that moves all body parts and joints in a short period of time such as Salah can do.

In addition, medical studies have confirmed that the physical movements of Salah are highly beneficial for people who had undergone a surgery for vertebral compression fracture,

and they help them recover faster and return to work sooner.

Salah is an excellent form of exercise

The doctor of one of my relatives, who had a blood clot in his brain, advised us to talk often to him.
I did not see the point of doing that until he explained it to me saying: "When you ask someone, he will have to reply, which will boost his brain activities, and will consequently increase blood flow to his brain".

Then he added: "The organ which is often used will not be atrophied".
In the same way, it is rare for someone who engages in seeking knowledge to have dementia,

since he uses his mind constantly, but of course it is not an absolute rule. For example,
when performing the Zuhr ( noon) prayer, one keeps in his mind that he should recite some verses of the Noble Qur'an after Surat Al-Fatiha in the first two rak'ahs, while there is no recitation after Al-Fatiha in the 3rd and 4th rak'ahs, and he should sit (for tashahhud) after the 2nd rak'ah, etc. So, he is in a state of constant mental activity during Salah.

Moreover, reciting the Noble Quran protects from  Alzheimer's disease, as the saying goes: he who lives a pious life will enjoy healthy aging.
Also, it was mentioned in the relic that the Prophet, may Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him, said:" Whoever learns the Noble Quran, Allah the Almighty will keep his mind healthy and active till the last day of his life" so he will be protected against Alzheimer's disease.
Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet, may Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him, said:

“Hasten to do good deeds before you are overtaken by one of the seven afflictions. Are you waiting for poverty which will make you unmindful of devotion, prosperity which will make you corrupt, a disease which will disable you, senility which will make you mentally unstable,  sudden death which will take you all of a sudden,  Ad-Dajjal who is the worst expected,  or the Hour; and the Hour will be most grievous and most bitter.”

[At-Tirmidhi from Ahmad]

Hajj rituals are physical exercises for the body

The rituals of Hajj (such as Tawaf and Sa'ee) involve great physical exercises for the body, like constant movement from one place to another, and trotting, etc. Moreover, all pilgrims are dressed similarly and live a simple life.

When pondering over the rituals of Hajj, we feel that they may be likened to a high-level sport training course. The journey of Hajj reminds us also of our last journey (to the Hereafter), rather it is the penultimate journey, it also reminds us of the life of our Prophet, peace be upon him, and his noble companions.

Thus, Islam encourages modern physical education before anyone else, which is now applied in developed countries.
When I was in Washington, I saw a large number of people walking early in the morning, which is an indication of a very high level of public awareness of the health benefits of sports.

Likewise, why should Muslims be weak while their enemies are strong, healthy and fit?
Dear brothers, there is a new term called: "the sports medicine" which is a new medical specialty based on healing through exercise. For example, they said that after the age of 40, walking regularly is enough exercise to make one's heart stronger.

Dear brothers, I think I have talked enough about this subject, but I would like to say is that our ritual acts of worship involve many physical exercises.
Walking every day is a type of sport that have great health benefits, as well as choosing healthy food and caring for our bodies and health.

In conclusion, I would like to say: your health is not only important to you, as it means a lot to those around you; your wife, sons, daughters, brothers in faith, and all the Muslim community. In other words, as long as you are an outstanding person who has extensive experience and who offers great service to Muslims, your health is no longer your own.
