Ramadan reflections 1445 H –Lesson 10: Ramadan is The Month of Quran.

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Ramadan is the month of Quran, Allah the Almighty says:

﴾ Recite it (i.e. obey its orders and follow its teachings) as it should be recited (i.e. followed), ﴿

[ Al-Baqarah-121 ]

"Recite it as it should be recited" means firstly, reading it rightly according to Arabic grammar. Secondly, reciting it according to Tajweed rules (learning about correct positions of the organs of speech and the manner of articulation) if possible. Thirdly, understanding what we recite correctly. Fourthly, doing Tadabbur (complying with what we recite). This is the meaning of the Ayah:

﴾ Recite it (i.e. obey its orders and follow its teachings) as it should be recited (i.e. followed), ﴿

[ Al-Baqarah-121 ]

In Ramadan we can read the Noble Quran twice for two purposes. The first time is to recite it for the purpose of performing an act of worship, and you can finish one chapter (20 pages) every day. The second time is to recite it for the purpose of Tadabbur, by asking one's own self, "Where do I stand from this Ayah? Am I applying it 100% or 50% only?"  This is At-Tadabbur.

Again, Allah says:

﴾ Recite it (i.e. obey its orders and follow its teachings) as it should be recited (i.e. followed), ﴿

[ Al-Baqarah-121 ]

It means to recite the Quran according to Arabic grammar, to recite it according to Tajweed rules, to understand what we recite and to apply what we recite.
